It's a breathable material that compresses the legs. The size chart was reliable, and customer service is prompt and good.
From Amazon I tried a cheap pair of compression socks once and they were polyester and not breathable - so Sock Lyf is better than that one.
I'm not sure if they've been medically/scientifically tested to actually be 20-30mmHg, but I'll just trust them
